Vida Miss: There is no issue with it being connected all the time. Unless you are downloading/streaming content, internet usage is minimal.That said, there is no issue disconnecting it for short periods (several hours and such).
Donita Desjardin: The stand alone Tivos store about 12 days of guide information whenever they connect to the Tivo server. So there is no problem with just letting it connect once a week to update the guide. The amount of information in the Tivo guide isn't that much compared to a broadband connection, I'd just leave it connected unless you find you have a problem. Both the Series 2 and Tivo HD can download movies and other content at your request over the Internet. That can be a drag on the Internet connection. I just make any requests before I go to bed and let the stuff download when I'm asleep....Show more
