Alise Rutgers: Moles, -the true moles, are able to survive under extreme circumstances -while under ground- because their blood cells have a special and unique hemoglobin protein, which makes them capable of reusing oxygen that they inhaled when above ground, and are able to survive in low oxygen environment such as underground burrows.
