Do I have a drinking problem?

Freddy Shutler: Only you can really answer that question. To tell you the truth, many people do this, including myself, and many people aren't alcoholics, including myself. I've heard of a lot of people that wouldn't drink regularly, only a few times a week just to have fun. And they didn't have any problems at all for years. They were not alcoholics, and then one day they had a drink, they took it too far for one night, and just like that their habits changed and they instantly became alcoholics.If you really think you might have a drinking problem. Then try this, Whatever alcohol you may have left just keep it in the fridge, dont drink it, just leave it there for one week. That is 7 days so it is not a very long commitment. Any normal person could easily agree not to drink for 1 week of there life. If you have cravings to drink it anyways then this is okay, just tell yourself you are committed and you wont drink until the week is over. I! f you crave the taste just make a non-alcoholic drink. Nothing wrong with drinking non-alcoholic cocktails either.But if you try this, and you cannot do it, if you cannot stay away from alcohol for 1 week, then you probably are an alcoholic. If you don't drink for 7 days and immediately on the 7th night or 8th day you start drinking, then you still might be an addict. One week is enough time to stop and think about yourself and your behavior, while you are not under the influence. Think about how many hours a night/day you spend pre-paring and drinking alcohol. How many hours a day do you spend, only 1 hour? 2 or 3? How many TV shows can you watch with a drink in your hand? Four? Six? If you answered yes to any of these, or if you became sad/depressed thinking about your alcoholic behavior then I would suggest you seek some sort of help, or you just quit drinking. Does drinking alcohol cause you any sort of negative behavior or feelings? Or is it all positive? Be honest wit! h your self and dont try to defend yourself or your feelings. ! Try to find another way to spend your time.In the time you spend making drinks you could be preparing a really awesome new recipe for dinner. You could exercise, spend time with kids/significant other, watch a good movie, ect.If none of these things work so you start drinking instead, I can almost promise you that you are an alcoholic....Show more
